A self-paced, comprehensive hybrid online Pilates Teacher Training designed to teach you how to work with real bodies. This is an industry-leading online Pilates teacher training program, combining the original classical repertoire, order, and transitions of Joseph Pilates with extensive contemporary exercises, variations, and evidence-informed teaching practices.

Your program is led by Dana Carter, NCPT, a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher, Diploma-trained Clinical Pilates Practitioner, Pilates Educator, Teacher Trainer, Anatomy Educator, and author with over 25,000 teaching hours and decades of experience mentoring instructors throughout North America.

The anatomy and biomechanics curriculum is taught by a Doctor of Physical Therapy (Physiotherapist) and experienced Pilates instructor, giving you an evidence-informed understanding of movement that directly applies to teaching Pilates.

Every exercise is broken down extensively through a multi-layered teaching approach including:
• Full classical exercise execution and transitions
• Contraindications and modifications
• Variations and progressions
• Common misalignments with verbal, visual, and tactile cueing strategies
This program goes beyond memorizing choreography. You will learn how to observe, adapt, cue, and confidently teach individuals and groups with clarity, skill, and intention.

Dana Carter

Dana Carter is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT), Diploma-trained Clinical Pilates Practitioner, Comprehensive Pilates Instructor, Pilates Educator and Teacher Trainer, Anatomy Educator, and author of seven books. With over 25,000 hours of teaching experience, she has dedicated her career to educating clients, mentoring instructors, and developing comprehensive teacher training programs.

Dana has educated, certified, and mentored Pilates, Barre, and Yoga instructors across North America and internationally, and has authored more than 20 professional education courses. She is passionate about helping instructors develop the knowledge, confidence, and critical thinking skills needed to work safely and effectively with real bodies. Her programs bridge the rich traditions of Classical Pilates with contemporary, evidence-informed movement science, creating educational experiences that are both comprehensive and practical.

Dana's journey began more than 25 years ago when she discovered Yoga and Pilates and experienced their transformative benefits firsthand. That passion led her to pursue a career in movement education, becoming a Physiotherapy Assistant, Clinical Pilates Practitioner, Anatomy Educator, and internationally respected Pilates educator. She remains committed to lifelong learning while empowering the next generation of movement professionals through mentorship, continuing education, and evidence-informed teaching.

Today, Dana serves as the Lead Instructor across two Pilates studios in Victoria, British Columbia, Program Director of DCME Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training, and a continuing education provider for Pilates and Yoga professionals.

My goal throughout this program is not simply to teach you Pilates exercises. It is to help you understand why we teach them, how to adapt them, and how to think critically as a movement professional.

I encourage you to stay curious, ask questions, embrace the learning process, and remember that becoming a great teacher is a journey. You do not need to know everything today. You simply need to keep showing up, practicing, and learning.

Dana lights up a room…seriously. Her laughter is infectious. She brings such positive energy into the space that it’s hard not to be happy during one of her classes. Her professionalism and easy-going demeanour make even the most nervous of students feel comfortable. Classically Informed Teaching, Progressively Aligned.

You will learn the Classical Pilates Repertoire all while still focusing on the musculoskeletal system to understand the purpose and benefits of each exercise. This course puts a strong emphasis on movement optimism and a biopsychosocial approach.  You will explore biomechanics and current pain science as applied to Pilates. You will learn to use a wide range of cues, props, and hands-on techniques for your future clients. At the end of this course, you will leave with a well-rounded education to become a highly skilled and confident Pilates Instructor.
